Women Entrepreneurship Development in the Digital Age: Challenges and Prospective Opportunities in Jharkhand
Abstract
In the contemporary era of pervasive digitalization, female-led entrepreneurship has positioned itself as a critical determinant of socio-economic restructuring and regional economic progression. This investigation provides an empirical and analytical appraisal of the institutional impediments and emerging strategic opportunities characterizing women-centric entrepreneurial ventures in Jharkhand amid rapid digital integration. The proliferation of digital infrastructure—encompassing e-commerce architecture, social commerce networks, and unified financial technology (FinTech) protocols—has significantly diminished structural entry barriers, thereby enhancing market penetration and capital access for female entrepreneurs. Nevertheless, in socio-economically developing topographies such as Jharkhand, significant structural bottlenecks persist. Utilizing a descriptive-analytical framework anchored in authoritative secondary datasets, this treatise identifies paramount systemic friction points, including digital literacy deficits, institutional credit rationing, infrastructure gaps, and deeply embedded socio-cultural constraints. Concurrently, the operational efficacy of State-backed interventions, Self-Help Group (SHG) networks, and targeted technical capacity-building initiatives is critically evaluated. Findings demonstrate that while digital transformation serves as a potent instrument for economic emancipation, its optimal realization requires a cohesive ecosystem comprising technical upskilling, policy alignment, and equitable technological access. Strategic policy recommendations are posited to eliminate digital disparities and foster a sustainable ecosystem for women entrepreneurs in the region.
