PLANNING OF RAIL REPLACEMENT WORKS WITH ANALYSIS OF LATERAL WEAR INTENSITY

Sep 2026 · Fundamental and Applied Transport Issues · 0 citations · 2 references

Abstract

The article presents the results of the analysis of the lateral wear intensity and forecasts plans for the replacement of rail panels on the Inskaya track section of the West Siberian Railway. The planning is based on the analysis of the rate of increase in rail lateral wear, carried out on the basis of operational data of the section using the export from the EK ASUI SDMI. Factors affecting the wear rate are considered, including traffic load, curve radius, axle loads, and features of current track maintenance. Based on the statistical processing of data, sections with the highest rates of wear increase are identified, for which differentiated timelines for rail panel replacement are proposed. The proposed methodology allows increasing the justification of planning track maintenance work, optimizing resource allocation, and reducing the risk of speed restrictions. The practical significance of the work lies in the possibility of applying the developed approach to other track sections with similar operating conditions.
