Minoritised groups and the limits of political transitions in Iran and the Middle East
Abstract
In states such as Iran, political transitions systematically prioritise regime stability, central authority, and territorial unity. Consequently, demands for power-sharing or recognition from ethno-national and religious communities are treated as existential threats to national integrity, reproducing the hierarchies they claim to overcome.
