The impact of artificial intelligence implementation on labor productivity and economic growth
Abstract
This article examines the theoretical and empirical aspects of the impact of artificial intelligence implementation on labor productivity and economic growth, with a focus on systematizing modern approaches to quantitatively assessing the macroeconomic effects of AI – ranging from conservative estimates predicting modest productivity gains to optimistic scenarios that view AI as a new "general technology" capable of triggering long-term productivity growth comparable to that of electrification or the digital revolution. The relevance of the research is due to the fundamental contradiction between the significant microeconomic effects of AI at the level of individual tasks and the uncertainty of macroeconomic consequences associated with the rate of technology diffusion, structural changes in the economy and institutional conditions.
