Digital Information Management and Organizational Resilience in China's Logistics Sector
Abstract
This study examines how digital information management contributes to organizational resilience in China's logistics sector and identifies the mechanisms through which digital technologies create value. Drawing on Network Effect Theory and the Dynamic Capability View, we test a serial mediation model using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) and survey data from 344 logistics firm managers. Results show that digitalization has no direct effect on firm resilience. Instead, it promotes digital logistics platform adoption, which strengthens organizational agility and, in turn, resilience. Both individual and sequential mediation effects are supported. These findings show that digitalization generates resilience only when embedded in platform-based coordination and translated into agility, rather than used as a standalone resource. By identifying this sequential capability-building mechanism, the study refines Network Effect Theory and the Dynamic Capability View and explains how digitalization builds resilience in logistics firms.
