DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN INTEGRATED WEB-BASED STAFF AND STUDENT PERFORMANCE MONITORING SYSTEM FOR HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
Abstract
Higher education institutions generate substantial amounts of academic, administrative, and performance-related data through student assessments, attendance records, staff evaluations, feedback, and institutional reporting processes. However, these activities are often managed through fragmented procedures and separate information systems, making it difficult to maintain a consolidated view of student and staff performance. This paper presents the design and implementation of an Integrated Web-Based Staff and Student Performance Monitoring System for Higher Education Institutions. The system provides a unified platform for managing student academic records, staff performance evaluation, feedback and complaint management, performance reporting, and institutional dashboards. A layered web-based architecture was adopted, comprising presentation, application, and data layers. The system was implemented using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with Apache/XAMPP serving as the development environment. Object-oriented analysis and design techniques were used to model the functional and data requirements of the system. Functional testing was conducted to verify major operations, including user authentication, dashboard access, assessment management, performance monitoring, staff evaluation, reporting, and feedback management. The implementation demonstrates the feasibility of integrating student and staff performance monitoring within a single web-based environment and provides a structured basis for institutional performance reporting and management. The system can also serve as a foundation for future extensions involving advanced predictive analytics, broader institutional data integration, and longitudinal evaluation using real-world deployment data.
