Sep 2026 · Revista de Estudos Interdisciplinares · 0 citations

Abstract

Analyze domestic violence experienced by Black women in Brazil, considering the historical, racial, and social factors that exacerbate their vulnerability. It seeks to understand the impacts of such violence on the fundamental rights of these women and to reflect on the challenges faced by the justice system and public policies in effectively addressing the issue. The methodology adopted is qualitative, based on bibliographic and document. tary review. Secondary data from official sources were analyzed, including the Brazilian Forum on Public Security, the DataSenado Research Institute, the Mortality Information System (SIM), the National Public Security System (Sinesp), and the National Map of Gender Violence. Theoretical contributions from authors who discuss the intersections of gender, race, and violence, such as Saffioti (2015), Luz (2022), and Bandeira (2018), among others, were also incorporated. The results indicate that Black women are disproportionately affected by domestic violence, frequently becoming victims of physical and psychological abuse as well as femicide. Structural racism and patriarchy operate together to keep these women in a state of social and institutional invisibility, hindering their access to protection networks and the justice system. It is concluded that there is an urgent need to develop public policies with an intersectional approach that simultaneously consider gender and racial issues. Furthermore, the training of professionals who work in support networks, the expansion of support services, and the sensitization of society are essential to overcoming the stigmas that perpetuate violence against Black women in Brazil.
