Abstract

This article analyzes the historiographical and historical significance of the scholarly legacy of Najmaddin Mukhtar ibn Mahmud al-Zakhidi. It examines the sources, symbolic abbreviations, elements of the ancient Khwarezmian language, views of Khwarezmian jurists, and information concerning the manuscript copies preserved in the works Qunyat al-Munya, al-Hawi, and al-Mujtaba. The scholarly legacy of Zakhidi is regarded as an important written source illuminating the scholarly and cultural aspects of the history of Khwarazm in the thirteenth century.
