Decentralized Storage, Distribution and Verifiable Retrieval of X3D Spatial Audio Scenes
Abstract
Immersive web-based 3D environments increasingly depend on spatial audio scenes composed of multiple interdependent assets, yet existing delivery infrastructure provides no mechanism for verifying that streamed content reaches the client intact and unmodified. This paper addresses that gap by introducing a content-addressed delivery architecture for X3D spatial audio scenes. The proposed approach combines decentralized chunk storage, on-chain manifest anchoring via a minimal smart contract, and a verify-before-bind progressive loading pipeline that cryptographically verifies every scene fragment against a blockchain-anchored manifest before admission to the live scene graph. The scene is decomposed into a shell and independently hashed geometry fragments organized at two levels of detail, enabling progressive loading while preserving end-to-end integrity guarantees. The architecture eliminates the implicit trust assumption of conventional centralized scene delivery, producing a scene package that is simultaneously decentralised, tamper-evident, and progressively loadable, addressable by any client holding only a contract address.
