Microbiological monitoring of pathogens of urogenital infections in dogs and their antimicrobial resistance in Tyumen
Abstract
From the moment of discovery to the present day, antibacterial drugs (antibiotics) have been a therapeutic method for the treatment of patients with bacterial infections, however, the uncontrolled use of these drugs exerts selective pressure on the bacterial population, contributing to their adaptation and the development of resistance properties. The problem of multidrug resistance (MDR) and especially the multidrug resistance (MDR) of uropathogens in urinary tract infections (UTIs) is a potential threat. This happens not only with an increase in the total LU, but also with a heavier structure due to the appointment of antibacterial drugs for preventive purposes, without specially prescribed laboratory diagnostic methods. The special relevance of this study is provided by data obtained from humane medicine on compensatory mutations of drug resistance (MBT), as a result of which not only the growth rate, often previously slowed down in drug-resistant strains, but even their virulence indicators are preserved. Often, the incidence of UTIS is significantly lower than the incidence due to the erased clinical picture, asymptomatic course of infection. The severity and presence of clinical symptoms directly correlates with the type of pathogen. An undetected bacterial infection in a timely manner, as well as an inadequate assessment of the severity of the disease, can lead to an upward course of the inflammatory process, aggravation of clinical symptoms and damage to the upper urinary system of the animal. The aim of the study was to carry out microbiological monitoring of pathogens of urogenital infections in dogs and their resistance to antimicrobial drugs in the city of Tyumen. The study presents the results of the examination of urine samples from 94 dogs by the method of cystocentesis followed by bacterial culture. The study assessed their resistance and sensitivity to various types of antimicrobials. The following isolates were isolated: Escherichia coli - in 39,6% of cases, Proteus mirabilis - in 17,7% of cases, Staphylococcus pseudintermedius - in 13,5%, Streptococcus canis - in 12,5%, Enterococcus faecalis - in 6,2% of cases, Enterobacter cloacae – in 3,1%, Klebsiella oxytoca - in 3,1 %, Klebsiella pneumoniae – in 1 %, A cinetobacter calcoaceticus – in 1 % of cases. Isolates of uropathogenic Escherichia coli , Proteus mirabilis , and Staphylococcus pseudintermedius are multidrug-resistant (MDR) and exhibit resistance of up to 97,3% to β-lactam drugs, up to 97, 3% to fluoroquinolone drugs, up to 92,3% to tetracyclines, and up to 94, 1% to macrolides
