Design and Analysis of a High-Gain DC-DC Converter with Soft Switching and Reduced Voltage Stress
Abstract
This paper presents a high step-up DC–DC converter with soft-switching capability, comprising two non-coupled inductors, two capacitors, two DC-link capacitors, four diodes, and two power switches. The converter operates efficiently at a low duty ratio (below 50%), thereby reducing component stress while achieving a high voltage conversion gain without the use of a voltage multiplier cell (VMC). Soft switching is achieved for all switches, effectively minimizing switching losses and improving overall efficiency. A detailed steady-state and efficiency analysis is provided, along with a comparative evaluation against existing high-gain converter topologies. The proposed converter is experimentally validated using a 300 W, 48 V/400 V prototype, and the results demonstrate good agreement between theoretical and experimental performance under both steady-state and dynamic operating conditions. Furthermore, the converter maintains a common-ground configuration, making it suitable for practical high-gain DC conversion applications
