Abstract
Mafic granulites from the Balaram area, South Delhi Terrane, Aravalli–Delhi Mobile Belt (ADMB), provide important insights into the petrogenesis and tectonometamorphic evolution of the lower continental crust. These rocks are characterized by the mineral assemblage orthopyroxene + clinopyroxene + plagioclase ± garnet ± hornblende ± biotite, with accessory ilmenite, magnetite, and rutile. Petrographic features such as granoblastic texture, coronae, and symplectites indicate granulite-facies metamorphism followed by retrograde rehydration under amphibolite-facies conditions. Whole-rock geochemical data show enrichment of LREE over HREE, negative Eu anomalies, and elevated total REE contents (86.26–314.90 ppm), suggesting crustal involvement, plagioclase fractionation, and enrichment inherited from the protolith. Major- and trace-element systematics indicate that the protolith was derived from partial melting of older, clay-poor crustal sources with minor mantle input, producing a hybrid precursor composition. Tectonic discrimination based on Ti/Zr and Zr/Y–Y relationships suggests magma generation in a transitional setting influenced by both volcanic arc basalt and mid-ocean ridge basalt affinities. These results constrain a multistage evolution involving extensional magmatism, high-grade metamorphism, and later compressional reworking during the evolution of the ADMB.
Rapakivi granites are commonly interpreted as products of interaction between mantle-derived and crustal magmas, yet their origin in collisional orogens remains poorly understood. Here we investigate the petrogenesis and tectonic significance of the middle Eocene Jamak pluton in the Central Pamir using zircon U–Pb geoc...

Abstract This study investigates the mineralogical and chemical composition of 25 slate samples and the petrography of four coarse-grained slates from seven sectors of the Carboniferous Culm Facies in the Malaguide (S Spain) and Ghomaride (N Morocco) domains (Betic Cordillera and Rif Chain). The succession comprises th...

The Pan-African granitoids of the Nigerian Basement Complex are known for their
metallogenic potential, yet many suites remain poorly characterized. This study presents an
integrated geochemical investigation of the granitic rocks from the Igbeti area. The suite
comprises porphyritic quartz monzonite, granite, and sili...

Porphyritic basalts exposed in the Sincik area of southeastern Türkiye form part of the Middle Eocene Maden Complex and provide an opportunity to characterise the geochemical and isotopic features of mafic magmatism along the Bitlis–Zagros Suture Zone. This study integrates petrographic observations, whole-rock major-...

The Jabal Sayid metavolcanic succession in the western Arabian Shield records Neoproterozoic arc magmatism and hosts a major VMS Cu-Zn-Au deposit in Saudi Arabia. This study investigates 31 volcanic samples, ranging from basalt to rhyolite, using petrography and whole-rock geochemistry to evaluate their petrogenesis, e...

The Petite and Mercurio satellite plutons of the Patagonian Batholith intrude folded marine sedimentary successions and ophiolitic sequences within the Magallanes fold-and-thrust belt on Isla Capitán Aracena (~54° S), south of the Cenozoic transcurrent Magallanes-Fagnano Fault System. Their petrogenesis and tectonic si...
