Redshifted 21 cm observations can trace neutral hydrogen from Cosmic Dawn and the Epoch of Reionization to lower-redshift large-scale structure, but foreground emission exceeds the cosmological fluctuations by several orders of magnitude. This review follows foreground mitigation from the measurement equation to final validation. We summarize spectral fitting, PCA/SVD, ICA, KL methods, GPR, GMCA, and DAYENU, including their signal loss in an idealized comparison. We then show how chromatic beams and frequency-dependent interferometric sampling mix angular foreground structure into line-of-sight modes and form the foreground wedge. Bayesian forward models and deep networks are assessed as routes to field and power-spectrum inference when the telescope response is included. Drawing on the SKA Science Data Challenge 3a, we summarize the experience gained and lessons learned, with emphasis on practical challenges in data processing, signal recovery, and uncertainty estimation. We conclude with field-level validation based on cross-correlation, transfer functions, and recovered power spectra.
This work introduces JESSNet, a beam-aware, mask-compatible foreground-cleaning framework for single-dish intensity mapping, and introduces three main extensions: a multiscale angular decomposition with scale-dependent mixing matrices and channel selection, a learned spherical-wavelet''learnlet''sparse regularization o...

Reconstructing the initial conditions of the Universe from late-time tracers would unlock cosmological information buried by non-linear structure formation and astrophysics. We reconstruct the initial density field corresponding to z = 300, with its linear amplitude extrapolated to z = 0, from simulated 21-cm and CO(...

Gravitational waves (GWs) and 21-cm intensity mapping (IM) are emerging as complementary cosmological probes: GWs provide direct luminosity-distance measurements, while neutral-hydrogen (HI) IM traces the matter distribution in redshift space. Their synergy offers a promising avenue for precise measurements of the Hubb...

Weak gravitational lensing is a premier cosmological probe, but its small-scale statistical power is compromised by baryonic feedback. Higher-order statistics capture non-Gaussian information that the power spectrum misses, yet their sensitivity to feedback remains a concern for Stage IV surveys. We quantify how unmode...

Space-based gravitational-wave observations in the millihertz band will be signal dominated rather than noise dominated. Tens of millions of Galactic binaries overlap into a confusion foreground that contaminates instrumental-noise spectra and leaves no genuinely signal-free interval. We study instrumental-noise es...

The Dark Ages offer a uniquely clean window on primordial physics, making the redshifted 21-cm signal a promising probe of inflation models. Forecasts for interferometric 21-cm measurements must account for foreground wedge avoidance, which removes a substantial fraction of Fourier modes, and this effect is especially...
