Abstract

The Brazilian capital market offers different forms of investment and financing, connecting companies seeking resources with individuals interested in investing their assets. In this context, investor protection is related to the existence of rules that promote transparency, access to information, and supervision of transactions. This article aims to analyze investor protection in the Brazilian capital market, focusing on legal aspects and the role of the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM). The research adopts a qualitative approach based on bibliographic and documentary analysis, examining legislation, regulatory rules, academic studies, and institutional publications related to the subject. The study seeks to understand how regulatory and supervisory mechanisms contribute to preventing irregular practices, increasing transparency, and providing greater security to market participants. It also examines challenges associated with the expansion of investment opportunities and the growing participation of new investors. The results indicate that clear rules, adequate information, and supervisory mechanisms contribute to a more organized and secure market structure. It is concluded that improving regulation, together with providing accessible and understandable information, can promote more balanced relationships and reduce the risks faced by investors in capital market transactions.
