Algorithmic Innovations in Operational Reliability Assessment and Adaptive Maintenance for Robotic and Autonomous Systems
Abstract
The rapid integration of robotic and autonomous systems (RAS) into complex industrial and urban infrastructures necessitates advanced approaches to operational reliability and maintenance. Traditional reactive maintenance models are increasingly inadequate for these dynamic systems, which are characterized by non-linear operational behaviors and exposure to significant environmental stressors. This article explores algorithmic innovations designed to enhance the predictability, safety, and efficiency of RAS. We examine robust mathematical modeling, advanced machine learning architectures, and data-driven diagnostic frameworks that facilitate the transition to proactive, adaptive maintenance strategies. By integrating real-time sensor data fusion and explainable AI (XAI) for operational transparency, these innovations ensure high availability and performance in unpredictable environments. Ultimately, this study demonstrates that bridging theoretical stochastic reliability assessment with practical, condition-based diagnostic methods is essential for establishing a resilient, self-optimizing, and sustainable future for autonomous industrial technology.
