Integration of Industry 5.0 Tools into Quality Management Systems of Industrial Enterprises
Abstract
The digital transformation based on the principles of Industry 5.0 poses new challenges for quality management systems (QMS) of industrial enterprises. Despite the wide range of available technological solutions, organizational, managerial, and technical barriers remain the main obstacles to their successful integration. Although digital technologies are being actively implemented, their integration into existing QMSs is often fragmented and does not lead to an increase in the maturity of management processes. The purpose of this article is to identify and scientifically substantiate the factors and barriers affecting the integration of Industry 5.0 tools into the QMS of industrial enterprises based on a cross-case analysis of Russian and international practices, as well as to develop a methodological approach for assessing QMS readiness for such integration. The object of the study is the quality management systems of industrial enterprises, while the subject of the study includes the methods and mechanisms for integrating Industry 5.0 tools into quality management processes. The research methodology is based on a cross-case analysis of 11 empirical cases implemented during the period from 2015 to 2024. As a result of the study, a classification of integration levels for Industry 5.0 tools within QMSs was developed, specific barriers to QMS development were identified, and an integral indicator for assessing QMS readiness for digital transformation was proposed. The obtained results may be applied in planning quality management system development programs under Industry 5.0 conditions.
