Abstract
This study examines at-tikrār (repetition) in the Qur’an as an educational communication strategy by integrating the perspectives of Arabic rhetoric (balāghah) and Paul Ricoeur’s hermeneutics. Through a qualitative library research approach, this study analyses Qur’anic verses containing at-tikrār, supported by classical works of balāghah, Qur’anic exegesis, and contemporary hermeneutical literature. The findings demonstrate that at-tikrār functions not merely as a rhetorical device for emphasis and aesthetic expression, but also as an intentional pedagogical mechanism that strengthens memory, internalises values, develops moral awareness, and facilitates cognitive, affective, and behavioural transformation. Through hermeneutic interpretation, repetition reveals the Qur’an’s communicative strategy in conveying divine guidance progressively and meaningfully. This approach demonstrates that Qur’anic rhetoric embodies educational values that integrate linguistic effectiveness, interpretative depth, and pedagogical purpose. The study proposes Qur’anic Educational Communication (QEC) as a conceptual framework for understanding at-tikrār as an integrative strategy in Qur’anic and Islamic education.
