Toponimias, veladas y desfiles marciales: estrategias de territorialización del imaginario nacional en el espacio urbano de Sincelejo, 1912-1950
Abstract
This article analyzes the historical processes associated with changes in toponyms and the introduction of nationalist cultural practices in the area surrounding Sincelejo's Main Square between 1912 and 1950. A hermeneutic approach was employed to develop a cultural history that highlights the territorial tensions that emerged in this urban space. The research was based on the analysis of the Sincelejo newspaper archives and the image collection of the city's Municipal Photographic Archive. The findings describe the gradual disappearance of the name Main Square and its replacement with names such as Eleventh of November Promenade (Camellón Once de Noviembre) and Santander Park (Parque Santander), as well as the establishment of nationalist cultural practices, including patriotic evening gatherings and military parades, which celebrated Colombia's republican national imaginary.
