Parental Level of Support in the School Programs and Projects and the Kindergarten Learners’ Learning Performance
Abstract
This study determined the relationship between the level of parental support in school Programs, Activities, and Projects (PAPs) and the learning performance of kindergarten learners in Kadingilan I District, Division of Bukidnon, during the School Year 2023–2024. Specifically, it examined parental support in School SPTA Projects, Reading Programs, Canteen Projects, Beautification Projects, and Brigada Eskwela, and assessed learners’ learning performance using the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) checklist. The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design involving 454 kindergarten parents from eleven elementary schools in Kadingilan I District through complete enumeration. Researcher-made questionnaires were utilized to gather data on parental support, while teachers provided learners’ ECCD assessment results. Data were analyzed using weighted mean, standard deviation, frequency, percentage, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient. The findings revealed that parents demonstrated a Highly Supportive level of involvement in School SPTA Projects (M=4.29), Reading Programs (M=4.21), and Beautification Projects, while parental support in Canteen Projects (M=4.18) and Brigada Eskwela was interpreted as Supportive. In terms of learning performance, 45.4% of the kindergarten learners attained the Consistent level, 41.3% were Developing, and 13.3% were at the Beginning stage. Correlation analysis showed significant relationships between parental support in Reading Programs (r=.194, p=.007), Canteen Projects (r=.230, p=.001), Beautification Projects (r=.173, p=.016), and Brigada Eskwela (r=.177, p=.014) and learners’ learning performance. However, School SPTA Projects (r=.117, p=.105) did not show a significant relationship. The study concluded that parental involvement in specific school programs significantly contributes to improving kindergarten learners’ learning performance.
