Examine the correlations in ferritin levels among Iraqi patients suffering from type 2 diabetes and contrast them with a group under control
Abstract
Background: There may be a relationship between body iron status and diabetic mellitus (T2DM), according to scientific and epidemiological investigations. Thus, we looked into the connection between body iron status and the risk of type 2 diabetes. Objective: Method In individuals with diabetes that is type 2, recent research has shown a substantial association between serum ferritin quantities and blood glucose levels. Methods: A clinical examination of 170 Iraqi patients having diabetes type 2 (T2DM) (130 randomly selected from Imam Al-Hassan Center for Endocrine Glands and Diabetes, and 40 patients served as the control group. It has been measured: ferritin, HbA1c, lipid profile, urea, and creatinine. The data was gathered in this way. Results: a statistically significant difference was not seen between the ferritin level and the HBa1c p value (>0.05) but significant difference was T.G and LDL p value (<0.05) between health and T2DM groups. Conclusions: The results of this investigation do not point to a connection between increased ferritin concentrations and a higher risk of type 2 diabetes but association increased TG, LDL and high risk T2 DM.
