Spin triplet superconductors are of interest because of their topological properties, and their robustness to high magnetic fields. CeRh$_2$As$_2$ is a unique heavy fermion superconductor with both even-parity and candidate odd-parity superconducting phases with a special feature enabling a field induced phase transition between the two. The field induced transition which switches the parity of the Cooper pairs is enabled by a staggered antisymmetric spin orbit coupling (ASOC) interaction. However, the heavy fermion origins of the superconductivity in CeRh$_2$As$_2$ and the origin of the antisymmetric spin-orbit coupling are currently unexplored. Here, we develop a Kondo lattice model for CeRh$_2$As$_2$ and demonstrate how local hybridization between Cerium $d$- and $f$-orbitals, driven by the locally broken inversion symmetry, at the Cerium sites generates the ASOC. The resulting Kondo lattice model leads to nearly degenerate even and odd parity superconducting states that display a field induced parity transition between an even-parity state and an odd-parity pseudospin triplet state. We discuss the wider implications of our results extended to other heavy fermion systems like CeSiI.
We investigate superconductivity in monolayer NbSe$_2$, an Ising superconductor, under an in-plane Zeeman field $h_x$, focusing on the emergence of symmetry selected equal-spin triplet pairing. Using a self-consistent Bogoliubov--de Gennes approach with realistic hopping parameters for monolayer NbSe$_2$ on a triangula...

Intrinsic superconductivity in stoichiometric materials with nontrivial electronic topology remains uncommon, limiting opportunities to investigate how these two phenomena coexist within a single electronic system. Here, we report bulk type-I superconductivity below $T_c$ $\sim$ 0.9~K in YbBi$_2$, a layered rare-earth...

Strong spin-orbit coupling and broken inversion symmetry in transition metal dichalcogenides give rise to Ising superconductivity, a spin-protected pairing state first identified in monolayer NbSe$_2$ through in-plane critical fields far exceeding the Pauli limit. More recently, Ising superconductivity has been propose...

The in-plane critical field of Ising superconductors exceeds the Pauli limit by an order of magnitude because the Ising spin-orbit coupling locks the electron spins out of the basal plane. The same locking converts an in-plane Zeeman field into a source of equal-spin triplet Cooper pairs, so that the field-driven conde...
The quantum anomalous Hall effect carries dissipationless chiral edge currents without an external magnetic field, yet raising its operating temperature and controlling the number of edge channels remain difficult. Using first-principles calculations, we identify the two-dimensional metal-organic kagome ferromagnet Eu$...

The recent realization of bulk superconductivity in the quintuple-layer nickelate La$_6$Ni$_5$O$_{12}$ opens new opportunities to probe the pairing symmetry of the reduced Ruddlesden--Popper (RP) nickelate family. Using an effective five-layer Hubbard model and variational Monte Carlo calculations, we find that a spin-...
