Game-Theoretic Transmission Scheduling in CPSs Subjected to DoS Attacks: An Incomplete Information Approach

Abstract

This paper investigates secure transmission scheduling under jamming attacks for remote state estimation in cyber-physical systems (CPSs). The sensor, equipped with a standard Kalman filter, selects a wireless channel at each time step for data transmission according to a prescribed stochastic switching rule, and a denial-of-service (DoS) attacker independently follows its own stochastic rule to choose a channel to jam. Because each agent’s channel selection remains private, the conflict is modeled as a stochastic game under asymmetric information. The analysis distinguishes between two information structures—open-loop and closed-loop—and obtains the corresponding Bayesian Nash equilibrium strategies for both the transmitter and the DoS attacker. Theoretical results characterize how the randomness in channel access, the asymmetry of information, and resource constraints influence the equilibrium behaviors. Numerical simulations validate the analytical findings and illustrate the impact of information availability on estimation accuracy and jamming resilience in CPSs.

Optimal Sensor Scheduling Against Deception Attacks Under Random Access Protocol

State estimation from multiple remote wireless sensors requires scheduling protocols to orchestrate the limited bandwidth and prevent data collisions. A critical aspect overlooked in state-of-the-art protocols is handling the exposure of the wireless channel to cyber attacks. We investigate how, under a random access p...

A Resilient Distributed Charging Scheduling Strategy for Electric Vehicles Under Cyber-Attacks

With the large-scale integration of electric vehicles (EVs), distributed charging scheduling has become a key enabler for coordinated charging management. However, its reliance on information exchange makes it susceptible to cyberattacks, including False Data Injection (FDI), Denial of Service (DoS), and replay attacks...

Reliable State Estimation Over Energy-Harvesting Decode-and-Forward Relay Networks: Dealing With Successive DoS Attacks

In this article, we investigate the reliable state estimation problem of cyber–physical systems (CPSs) over energy-harvesting decode-and-forward (DaF) relay channels. To extend the transmission distance and improve the reliability of measurement signal delivery, a DaF relay is deployed in the sensor-estimator communica...
