Evaluación del potencial de regulación biótica en sistemas agroecológicos y convencionales del sur de Santa Fe (Argentina)
Abstract
The objective of this study was to evaluate the Biotic Regulation Potential Index (BRPI) by surveying and integrating different indicators. The study was conducted in May 2025 in seven plots under agroecological transition or conventional management and with different land uses, crop diversification, and border management, located near Zavalla (Santa Fe, Argentina). In most cases, the borders lacked planned management and design, exhibiting low diversity and few plant strata. Regarding productive management, crop diversity explained some differences among the analyzed cases, with the highest BRPI score recorded in the crop-livestock system under conventional management, highlighting the importance of production diversification in local systems. In conclusion, the BRPI allows for the evaluation of some critical points in the systems, aiming to identify improvement alternatives that increase sustainability and promote their autonomy.
