Abstract
Conventional polymer flooding of medium‐to‐high‐viscosity heavy oil can be limited by near‐wellbore shear degradation and polymer retention, which impair injectivity and mobility control. Here, a hydrophobically associating water‐soluble polymer (HAWP)/sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) hybrid system was evaluated at 65°C using fixed‐shear‐rate rheology, interfacial tension, adsorption/migration, and core‐flooding measurements. The bulk viscosity exhibited a maximum at 250 mg/L SDS; at 1750 mg/L HAWP, the peak viscosity was 1752 mPa·s, corresponding to a 255.7% increase relative to the SDS‐free HAWP solution measured under identical conditions. During dynamic sand‐pack transport, formulations containing at least 300 mg/L SDS limited the HAWP concentration reduction to no more than 3.7%, and core floods increased oil recovery by 7.4 and 7.5 percentage points for 112 and 634 mPa·s heavy oils, respectively. These results indicate that SDS can improve injectivity and preserve effective polymer concentration by reducing HAWP adsorption loss, providing a mobility‐control route for heavy‐oil reservoirs.
Fines migration induced by low salinity water flooding severely impairs reservoir permeability and injectivity presenting a critical challenge in enhanced oil recovery. This study aims to synthesize and evaluate a surface‐modified polymer‐silica nanocomposite to mitigate clay mobilization and preserve the hydrodynami...

At low temperatures, the performance of polymeric adsorbents in remediating oil spills and organic‐solvent leakage can be severely compromised by restricted segmental mobility within the polymer network. To address this limitation, an acrylate‐based oil‐adsorption resin with a low glass‐transition temperature (

ABSTRACT Sorption‐based atmospheric water harvesting (SAWH) offers a promising route for decentralized freshwater production, but practical water output is often limited by slow sorption kinetics in salt‐loaded hydrogel sorbents. Here, a biomimetic multi‐layer heterogeneous hygroscopic (MHH) membrane is developed to de...

Fracturing-fluid retention caused by capillary trapping and surfactant loss during transport through porous media can impair post-fracturing productivity in tight reservoirs. In this study, a rhamnolipid/isopropanol/limonene/water nanosized dispersed formulation was developed as a biosurfactant-based flowback aid. Pseu...

Low-permeability heterogeneous porous media commonly exhibit preferential flow through high-permeability channels and persistent residual-oil trapping in small pores and dead-end regions, limiting effective multiphase transport and residual-oil mobilization. Herein, Ca2+-responsive polyacrylamide/sodium alginate nanoge...
