Abstract
This article addresses the self-calibration of gain-phase errors in a uniform linear array. Existing closed-form calibration methods are primarily developed for signal models with external noise and cannot be directly applied to the traditional direction-of-arrival estimation problem with internal noise. To address this limitation, an internal noise signal model is adopted. By exploiting the Toeplitz structure of the covariance matrix, a closed-form solution is derived in the form of a two-step weighted least squares (TWLS) estimator. This solution requires no multidimensional optimization or iterative parameter updates while maintaining high estimation accuracy. In the TWLS formulation, an initial estimate is first obtained using a weighting matrix constructed from the asymptotic covariance and subsequently refined through a decorrelation procedure based on a Taylor series approximation. In addition, the constrained Cramér–Rao lower bound (CCRLB) is derived. Simulation results show that the proposed method achieves accuracy close to maximum likelihood estimation and asymptotically approaches the CCRLB while maintaining high computational efficiency and strong robustness.
Direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation in adverse weather is degraded by propagation-induced phase and amplitude distortions that violate the covariance structure assumed by classical subspace methods. Motivated by a physics-based model of rain propagation, we develop a structured covariance formulation for rain-distort...

This work addresses the synthesis of constant-modulus (CM) radar waveforms whose range-Doppler behavior approximates a prescribed profile in the presence of multiple interference sources. Since the interference power at the matched-filter output amounts to an average of the slow-time ambiguity function (STAF) of the tr...
This letter addresses the limited signal identifiability in non-coherent direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation for partly calibrated arrays (PCAs) consisting of identical subarrays. In non-coherent processing, we obtain distinct phase offsets from subarrays of different structures. This allows the identification of mor...

Accurate near-field array measurement and sensing require precise knowledge of the array geometry, which is often degraded by sensor position perturbations. To address the strong parameter coupling in conventional joint-estimation approaches, this article proposes a blind-manifold-based self-calibration framework that...

The high-frequency spectral roll-off of continuous-time ARMA (CARMA) models can magnify the effect of narrow-band disturbances when aliasing is weak, making standard maximum-likelihood Whittle estimation sensitive to affected ordinates. We show that a logarithmic transformation $r_k = \log \rho_k$ converts the Whittle...
