Abstract

In order to meet the demand for launch vehicles in the future, when it is expected to grow explosively, design a proposal for a wind-resistant load-reduction device that is compatible with multiple launch vehicle configurations. This should include a wind-resistant load-reduction clamping arm, a rotary mechanism, a lifting mechanism, a support adjustment mechanism, and a locking mechanism. These components should be universally adaptable to rockets of different heights and diameters. Analysis of the mechanical properties and the analytical method of the wind-load-reducing device, including dynamic simulation, revealed that the results from the analytical and simulation methods were in close agreement, with an error of less than 3.4%. This confirms the accuracy of the external force analysis at the joints. Finite element simulation analysis was conducted based on the external forces acting on the structure under the most severe operating conditions. Results for the wind-load-reducing clamping arm, rotary mechanism, and lifting mechanism under various operating conditions showed a maximum stress of 300.7 MPa, a minimum residual coefficient of 2.8, and the fundamental frequency of the Wind-Resistant and Load-Reduction Clamping Arm is 4.6 Hz, validating the design of the wind-load-reduction device. The proposed device is compatible with multiple launch vehicle configurations and has undergone mechanical characteristic analysis. It can effectively protect the rocket and perform the intended design operations under a 10-metric-tonne load. It offers reliable motion and convenient operation. Furthermore, the design methodology for this wind-resistant load-reduction device has broad implications for the field of kinematic chain design.
