Pengaruh Karakteristik Peternak terhadap Tingkat Adopsi Pemanfaatan Limbah Ternak Kambing di Desa Paningkaban, Kabupaten Banyumas
Abstract
Goat farming in Paningkaban Village, Gumelar Subdistrict, Banyumas Regency, generates substantial manure that is largely left unprocessed, causing environmental burdens and forgone economic value. This study examined the partial and simultaneous effects of farmer characteristics, namely age, education, farming experience, and herd size, on the adoption level of goat-manure utilization and identified the most dominant predictor. A survey was conducted from 13 June to 19 July 2026 involving 234 respondents selected using the Slovin formula (N = 559; e = 5%). The adoption level was measured using Likert-scale questionnaires combined with direct observation, and the data were analyzed by multiple linear regression. Most farmers (55.98%) only collected and discarded manure, whereas merely 2.14% processed and sold it. Simultaneously, the four characteristics significantly affected adoption (F = 16.924; p < 0.01). Partially, age exerted a significant negative effect, education a significant positive effect, and herd size a highly significant positive effect, while farming experience was not significant. Herd size was the most dominant predictor. The model explained only 22.8% of the adoption variance (R2 = 0.228), indicating that external factors govern the remainder. Community-based manure processing and targeted extension are recommended.
