Evaluation of residual load-bearing capacity of reinforced concrete I-BEAMS
Abstract
This article addresses the critical issue of technical condition assessment and residual service life estimation for reinforced concrete I-beams in bridge structures operating under intensive dynamic loading. The study analyses the stress-strain state of 18-m beam. The longitudinal reinforcement consists of various plain steel reinforcing bar bundles, configured with lap splices, and increased reinforcement density at mid-span to counteract peak bending moments. Particular emphasis is placed on the shear strength of inclined sections, identified as the most vulnerable structural elements of the I-beam. This research offers practical insights for structural design engineers and specialists focused on the diagnostics of transport infrastructure.
