This paper investigates discrete-activation pinching antenna (DAPA) systems, where a finite set of pinching antennas (PAs) is deployed along a dielectric waveguide, from which PAs are selectively activated to serve users. Performance analyses are developed for both orthogonal multiple access (OMA) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) by explicitly accounting for the system geometry and discrete PA activation. Specifically, analytical expressions for the outage probability (OP) and ergodic rate (ER) are derived. Furthermore, the discrete-to-continuous gain ratio (DCGR) is introduced to quantify the normalized ER gain of a finite PA deployment relative to the single-PA and continuous-activation references. Monte Carlo simulations validate the derived expressions and show that DAPA systems can closely approach continuous-activation performance with only a moderate number of candidate PAs. For example, under the considered setup, DAPA with five PAs recovers approximately 92% and 90% of the continuous-activation ER gain under OMA and NOMA, respectively, at a transmit power of 0 dBm.
Pinching-antenna systems (PASS) offer flexible radiation points for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC), but existing designs largely assume continuous antenna placement, which may be impractical with pre-installed hardware. We investigate a discrete-activation multi-waveguide PASS-ISAC system that selects spar...

The practical implementation of pinching-antenna systems (PASS) is challenging due to hardware limitations in large-scale antenna movement and continuous radiation power adjustment. This paper proposes a practical PASS-enabled downlink multi-user multiple-input multiple-output communication framework that enables discr...

Pinching-antenna (PA) systems provide spatial reconfigurability for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC) through controllable radiation locations along dielectric waveguides. This paper investigates a dual-waveguide PA-assisted ISAC system in which the communication user also serves as the sensing target, coupli...

Pinching antenna systems (PASS) provide flexible transmitter-side radiation reconfiguration for high-frequency wireless communications. This paper applies PASS to non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) covert communication networks, where activated pinching antennas (PAs) transmit superimposed signals to a pair of users...

This letter investigates a fluid antenna system (FAS)-assisted downlink rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) scheme in the finite blocklength regime. A single traditional antenna system (TAS) base station serves FAS-equipped central and cell-edge users, each with $N$ reconfigurable ports. Spatial correlation among por...

Numerical results demonstrate that: 1) Eve's velocities and positions can be accurately tracked with the proposed two-timescale framework in both multiple- and single-waveguide scenarios; and 2) PASS achieves superior secrecy rate compared to conventional multiple-antenna benchmarks.
