Abstract
This book examines the ethical challenges and opportunities arising from the integration of artificial intelligence into nursing and healthcare. It explores the relationship between technological innovation, professional responsibility, human dignity, compassionate care, and ethical decision-making in increasingly digital healthcare environments. Emphasizing that artificial intelligence should support rather than replace human judgment and the therapeutic relationship, the book addresses issues of accountability, patient safety, privacy, autonomy, justice, and equitable access to healthcare. It highlights the continuing importance of nurses as ethical agents who safeguard the humanity of care while engaging critically with emerging technologies. By integrating nursing ethics with a human-centered perspective on artificial intelligence, this work contributes to discussions on responsible digital transformation and the future of nursing practice.
This book aims to be an accessible guide to ethical theories and practices that does not presuppose any background or training in philosophy while at the same time not renouncing the fundamental questions at the core of the medical profession.
