Abstract

A 42‑d experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of replacing dietary soybean meal with enzymolytic soybean meal (ESBM) on growth performance, intestinal morphology, cecal microbiota, and short‑chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in broilers. A total of 400 one‑day‑old male Cobb broilers were randomly assigned to 5 groups, each with 8 replicates of 10 birds. The control group received a corn‑soybean meal basal diet, and the four experimental groups (T1, T2, T3, T4) were fed diets in which 1 %, 2 %, 3 %, or 4 % ESBM replaced an equal amount of soybean meal, respectively. The results showed that, compared with the control group, broilers in the T3 group had a higher average daily gain (ADG) and a lower feed conversion ratio (FCR) during d 22 to 42 (P < 0.05). The T3 group also exhibited increased duodenal villus height and villus‑height‑to‑crypt‑depth ratio (P < 0.05), and a marked elevation in the relative abundance of cecal Alistipes (P < 0.05). In the T4 group, the cecal propionate concentration was significantly higher than that of the control (P < 0.05). Spearman correlation analysis revealed a positive association between the relative abundance of Alistipes and propionate concentration (P < 0.05). Collectively, these findings demonstrate that moderate inclusion of ESBM (3 %) improves late‑phase growth performance, enhances duodenal morphology, and beneficially modulates cecal microbiota and propionate production in broilers.

Effect of fermented soybean meal supplementation and birth weight of broiler on performance, hematochemical parameters, and lactic acid bacteria composition under tropical conditions

Fermented soybean meal (FSBM) is considered a potential protein source, yet its efficacy under tropical conditions requires further investigation. This study evaluated the effects of fermented soybean meal supplementation and initial body weight on growth performance, gut environment, and hematochemical parameters of b...

Effect of a co-fermented amino acid waste liquid-rice bran feed as a soybean meal replacer on growth performance, rumen fermentation, and microbial profile in finishing cattle

This study evaluated the effects of replacing soybean meal (SBM) with a co-fermented amino acid waste liquid–rice bran feed on growth performance, rumen fermentation, and rumen fungal community composition in finishing cattle. Forty Simmental bulls with similar initial body weight (499.2 ± 26.1kg, mean ± SD)were assi...

Effect of non-conventional dietary insoluble fiber on growth, nutrient digestibility, intestinal morphology, and carcass traits of male broilers

The effects of including wheat bran (WB), corn bran (CB), and corncobs (CC) (as sources of insoluble fiber) at two levels (2 and 4%) in the diet on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, carcass traits, and intestinal morphology were examined in male broilers from1 to 42 days (d) of age. A total of 294 one-day-old...

361. Effects of Dietary Medium-chain Fatty Acid Supplementation Levels on Growth Performance, Fecal Score, Energy, Antioxidant, and Inflammatory Status of Nursery Pigs Fed High Protein Diets.

This study evaluated the effects of increasing medium-chain fatty acid (MCFA) supplementation levels on growth performance, fecal score, energy, antioxidant, and inflammatory status in nursery pigs fed high protein diets. A total of 72 pigs (initial body weight: 6.68 ± 0.97 kg weaned at 17.0 ± 3.02 d of age) were all...

Partial replacement of soybean meal with Tenebrio molitor larvae meal in broiler finishing diets: growth performance and meat quality

Content of image described in text. Abstract This study evaluated the effects of partially replacing soybean meal with Tenebrio molitor larvae meal (TMM) at dietary inclusion levels of 0%, 2%, 5%, and 8% in finisher diets fed to 180 broiler chickens (22–42 days). Growth performance was monitored during the finisher pha...
