TL;DR

Increasing evidence suggests that elevated circulating biomarkers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and interleukin-1β (IL-1β) are strongly associated with disease progression, reduced quality of life, and increased mortality among adult populations.

Abstract

Chronic inflammation has emerged as one of the principal biological mechanisms underlying the global burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, osteoarthritis, metabolic syndrome, neurodegenerative disorders, and several forms of cancer. Unlike acute inflammation, which is essential for host defense and tissue repair, chronic low-grade inflammation is characterized by persistent activation of immune pathways, excessive production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and prolonged oxidative stress that gradually impair tissue function. Consequently, identifying safe and effective anti-inflammatory interventions has become an important priority in preventive medicine and clinical nutrition.

Effectiveness of Ginger in Reducing Inflammation Markers in Metabolic Diseases

Metabolic diseases, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, metabolic syndrome, dyslipidemia, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, are commonly associated with chronic low-grade inflammation. Ginger (Zingiber officinale) contains bioactive compounds with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may supp...

Flavonoids: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Potential in Multitarget Intervention forChronic Neuroinflammation

Inflammation is a defensive response of the body to external stimuli. However, excessive or dysregulated inflammatory responses contribute to various chronic diseases, with neurodegenerative disorders accounting for approximately 30% of the global disease burden. Flavonoids are natural polyphenolic compounds widely...
