Abstract

Abstract: Organizational and Positive Psychology emphasizes resources capable of promoting health, well-being, and positive workplace relationships. Among these resources, workplace spirituality stands out as being associated with meaning, purpose, and the quality of professional relationships, while perceived organizational support concerns the recognition of employees’ contributions and the organization’s care for its workforce. This study examined the relationship between perceived organizational support and workplace spirituality among employees of public and private organizations in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. The sample consisted of 315 male and female employees who completed measures of perceived organizational support and workplace spirituality, as well as a sociodemographic questionnaire. Descriptive analyses, Pearson’s correlation, and the chi-square test were performed. The results revealed a significant association between perceived organizational support and workplace spirituality, including the dimensions of sense of community and work as a purpose in life. The chi-square analysis showed that higher levels of perceived organizational support were associated with higher levels of workplace spirituality. It is concluded that organizational support constitutes an important psychosocial resource for strengthening workplace bonds, fostering a sense of purpose at work, and promoting positive work experiences, thereby contributing to healthier and more productive organizational environments.
