Abstract

We study the contrast between the large-sieve norm and the second moment of structured prime coefficients for sextic residue characters over the Eisenstein integers. For squarefree row and column ideals of norms at most A and B, we prove a lower bound of order (AB)^(-epsilon) times (A + B + A^(5/6) B^(1/3) + A^(1/3) B^(5/6)), matching de Faveri's upper bound throughout the full parameter range. In particular, the squared full-cutoff norm at balance is at least Q^(7/6 - epsilon). The proof uses the uniform unmarked character moments of OpenAI's September 2026 manuscript, a Gauss second moment uniform in moving prime exclusions, and a centered comparison that transports a squarefree-row signal between column scales. With the additional unmarked inverse moment and buffered zero detector from the same source, we derive a low-height zero-density estimate and bound the second moment of a fixed smooth prime sum by Q^((37 - 10 sqrt(6))/6 + epsilon). We also treat bounded convolutions of independently weighted large primes. An appendix retains the first version's unbalanced lower bound and its exponent 17/16, without using the additional plain or inverse moment estimates.

Selberg sieve weights and sign changes of Kloosterman sums. I. Uniform asymptotics for shifted weights

We prove an asymptotic formula for correlations of divisor sums with quadratic cutoff functions shifted independently by \(s,u\in[0,1/2]\). The error is \(O_g(Y/(\log Y)^2)\), uniformly for \(Y^{1/5}\leq R\leq Y^{1/3}\), including coincident shifts. The main term is an explicit bilinear form in the first and second der...

A Proof of Fraenkel's Conjecture

Fraenkel's conjecture asserts that a partition of the integers into at least three Beatty sequences with distinct moduli has the binary densities $1,2,4,\ldots,2^{m-1}$, normalized by $2^m-1$. We prove the conjecture through a dimension-free intermediate statement: every such partition contains a component of density a...

Divisibility Estimates for Gaussian Norms and Almost-Prime Orders of a CM Elliptic Curve

Let $E:y^2=x^3-x$. We prove that $\#E(\mathbf{F}_p)/8$ is squarefree and has at most two prime factors for $\gg X/(\log X)^2$ primes $p\le X$. The proof follows the Gaussian CM sieve framework of Iwaniec and Jim\'enez Urroz and incorporates the intersection terms identified by Xie. For a squarefree Gaussian ideal $\mat...

Diameter-free reverse inequalities and superorthogonality

We prove three results as part of the program of diameter-free estimates initiated in [CDW26]. The first two are reverse square function estimates for the light cone in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We first establish an abstract $L^4$ inequality of independent interest, under an ordered superorthogonality hypothesis: for every four...

A new upper bound for the irrationality exponent of $\zeta(2)$

We prove that the irrationality exponent of $\zeta(2)=\pi^2/6$ satisfies $\mu(\zeta(2))<5.0193784$. The best published bound is 5.095412 (Zudilin, 2014); a bound 5.0495243 with a machine-checked proof was made public in September 2026 by J. Kleid. We use Zudilin's two hypergeometric constructions at a new choice of par...

Higher Reciprocity, Cassels Pairings, and Selmer Towers for the 3/5 Congruent Number Problem

We study the arithmetic of the elliptic curves \[ A_m:y^2=x(x-m)(x+4m) \] attached to the $3/5$ congruent number problem. A difference of ternary representation numbers controls the relevant central $L$-values. For $p\equiv11\pmod{40}$ the ordinary Cassels pairing degenerates; we construct an explicit $4$-cover and sho...
