Abstract

In the digital era, public space has expanded beyond its physical dimension to include virtual platforms where new forms of protest and resistance are developed. This essay analyzes the narratives of resistance in Coyomeapan, Puebla, in the context of a socio-political conflict that has been documented and disseminated through socio-digital networks. Based on a digital ethnography, it examines how images, videos and Facebook posts have been used by the community as tools for denunciation, mobilization and construction of collective memory. It addresses the transformation of activism in the virtual public space, highlighting its potential to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, as well as the challenges they face in a digital environment marked by censorship and appropriation of discourses. It also reflects on the importance of digital preservation to safeguard these narratives of resistance, ensuring their permanence as a testimony of struggle and vindication. This study contributes to the debate on the role of visual activism in contexts of violence and repression, showing that digital protest is a key strategy in the defense of human rights and social justice.
