Cyberbullying in Adolescents: Bibliometric Analysis
Abstract
This study aims to perform a bibliometric analysis of the existing body of research concerning cyberbullying in adolescents. In this study, terms such as ‘cyberbullying,’ ‘cybervictimization,’ and ‘adolescent’ were systematically searched within the Web of Science databases. To analyze the retrieved records, the R bibliometric package was employed. The earliest publication dates back to 2004, and the number of studies has increased over time, with a particularly sharp rise after 2011. Research activity has been concentrated primarily in the United States, China, and Spain. Prominent outlets include Computers in Human Behavior and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. Frequently used keywords consist of cyberbullying, bullying, and adolescents. Over the past decade, research on cyberbullying among adolescents has grown rapidly, with publications from the United States, China, and Spain standing out in particular. Given that the literature has predominantly focused on psychosocial outcomes, strengthening cultural diversity and interdisciplinary approaches in future studies is expected to provide significant contributions to the field at both theoretical and practical levels.
