Examine Theology and Its Impact on Our Contemporary World

Oct 2026 · International Journal of Religion and Cultural Practice · 0 citations

Abstract

This article critically examines the discipline of theology and its influence on the contemporary world. It begins by exploring the concept of theology as a systematic study of the divine and religious beliefs, highlighting its intellectual and spiritual dimensions. The discussion then moves to the primary sources of theology scripture, tradition, reason, and human experience, which serve as foundational tools for theological reflection and understanding. The purpose of theology is analysed in terms of its role in shaping individual faith, moral reasoning, and community life. The article further investigates the dynamic interconnection between theology and contemporary society, demonstrating how theological thought engages with pressing social, ethical, and political issues. A particular focus is given to the African context, where theology manifests in diverse and multi-dimensional forms that reflect indigenous cultures, historical experiences, and sociopolitical realities. Ultimately, the article argues that theology continues to be a vital force in modern society, influencing public discourse, cultural identity, and the pursuit of justice and human dignity.
