Abstract

Aim: The study aimed to assess the effects of bioenhancers and biofertilizers on mango yield and fruit quality, with the goal of promoting sustainable production practices and enhancing export potential. Methodology: Bioenhancers (Panchagavya, jivamrit, amritpani) and biofertilizers (Azotobacter, Phosphate solubilizing Bacteria (PSB), and FYM) were applied to mango trees through soil drenching, except panchagavya, which was sprayed at two stages, i.e., pre-flowering and pea stage of fruit development. Treatments were evaluated for their effects on fruit weight, volume, TSS, acidity, sugars and carotenoids. Results: Application of panchgavya at 3%, PSB at 50 g per tree, and Azotobacter at 50 g per tree significantly improved the mango fruit weight (160.8 g to 258.63 g), volume (178.76 - 263.91 g cc-1), yield per tree (34.10 – 56.69 kg per tree) TSS (17.20 – 20.20 0Brix), sugars (15.02 – 21.35%), carotenoids (8.02 – 8.68 mg 100 g-1), while reduced acidity (0.50 - 0.12%) compared to control, indicating enhanced yield and fruit quality through organic inputs for sustainable production of mango. Interpretation: The combined use of bioenhancers and biofertilizers significantly improved the mango fruit yield and quality traits, indicating their potential as a sustainable alternative of chemical fertilizers to enhance productivity and fruit quality. Key words: Bioenhancers, Biofertilizers, Fruit quality, Mangifera indica cv. Amrapali, Mango

Evaluating the impact of Acanthophora spicifera and Gracilaria edulis extracts on the enhanced growth of selected microgreens and their bioactive metabolite profiles

Seaweed-derived bio-stimulants are increasingly explored as a sustainable strategy to enhance the nutraceutical quality of functional foods such as microgreens. This study evaluated the effect of foliar-applied Acanthophora spicifera and Gracilaria edulis extracts (0.5% w/v) on the growth and bioactive metabolite profi...
