Abstract

The development of a vibration signals monitoring system for AC motors is designed to provide a real-time diagnostics using a cost-effective and scalable approach. The system integrates the ADXL345 accelerometer sensor, Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to measure, monitor, and analyse vibration signals. The system offers a practical solution for industrial motor health monitoring, enabling users to identify and address issues such as overheating, misalignment, and imbalances that can lead to mechanical failures. The implementation focuses on mitigating challenges associated with traditional vibration monitoring methods, such as high costs and labour-intensive setups. The system also complies with ISO 10816/20816 and Act 514 standards, ensuring accurate evaluation of vibration exposure and its potential effects. Experimental testing was conducted using induction motors under varying conditions. The use of IoT technologies for data collection and cloud-based storage ensures scalability, while the GUI simplifies data interpretation for end-users. Future work could involve enhancing sensor precision, integrating machine learning(ML) for predictive analytics, and expanding the system to monitor additional parameters such as temperature and humidity. Lastly, this work contributes significantly to the field of industrial diagnostics, providing an accessible and innovative solution for monitoring and maintaining motor health.
