Abstract

The $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}^n$. A $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-linear generalized Hadamard (GH) code is a GH code over $\mathbb{Z}_p$ which is the Gray map image of a $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-additive code. A recursive construction gives such codes $H_p^{t_1,\dots,t_s}$, of type $(n;t_1,\dots,t_s)$ and length $p^t$, and a partial classification of them is known. In this paper, we complete the classification of these codes for every prime $p$. The main tool is the derived code, obtained by puncturing the code outside a block of coordinates determined by its kernel. For a nonlinear code $H_p^{t_1,\dots,t_s}$ with $t_1\geq2$, the derived code is a $\mathbb{Z}_{p^{s-1}}$-linear GH code of the same family, although the mechanism for odd $p$ differs from the binary one. As a consequence, for $t\geq3$, there are $\mathcal P(t+1)-\mathcal P(t)$ nonequivalent such codes of length $p^t$ if $p$ is odd, and $\mathcal P(t+1)-\mathcal P(t)-1$ if $p=2$, where $\mathcal P(n)$ is the number of partitions of $n$. In particular, this completes the classification of the $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes. We also prove a conjecture on the codes with $t_1\geq2$ and $t_s=0$.

The rank of $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes

The canonical $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-linear Hadamard codes are the Gray images of the $\mathbb{Z}_{2^s}$-additive codes. Their rank, the dimension of the binary linear span, was known in closed form only for $s\le 3$, and for $s \ge 4$ only through computer computations for small lengths. We give a method that computes the...

Nonequivalence of $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-linear and $\mathbb{Z}_{p^s}$-linear generalized Hadamard codes for odd primes

The $\mathbb{Z}_p\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive codes are subgroups of $\mathbb{Z}_p^{\alpha_1}\times\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}^{\alpha_2}$, and they can be seen as linear codes over $\mathbb{Z}_p$ when $\alpha_2=0$, as $\mathbb{Z}_{p^2}$-additive codes when $\alpha_1=0$, and as $\mathbb{Z}_2\mathbb{Z}_4$-additive codes when $p=2$....

Adjacency spectrum of power graphs of $\mathbb{Z}_m \times \mathbb{Z}_n$

The power graph $\mathscr{P}(G)$ of a group $G$ is defined as the simple graph with vertex set $G$, and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are joined by an edge if and only if either $x= y^k$ or $y= x^k$, $k \in \mathbb{N}$. In this paper, first, we obtain the characteristic polynomial of $\mathscr{P}(\mathbb{Z}_m \time...

Resolving a conjecture on permutation polynomials over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$

Let $\delta\in\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$ satisfy $\operatorname{Tr}_{\mathbb{F}_{2^n}/\mathbb{F}_2}(\delta)=1$. We study the permutation behavior of $$ f(x) = \left(\frac{1}{x^2+x+\delta}\right)^{2^k}+x $$ over $\mathbb{F}_{2^n}$. Helleseth and Zinoviev proved that $f(x)$ is a permutation for $k=0,1$, and remarked that numerica...

Cyclic Codes of Length 7_p^s over F_p^m + uF_p^m : Characterization, Duals, and Applications to Quantum and LCD Codes

Let $R_2 = \mathbb{F}_{p^m} + u\mathbb{F}_{p^m}$ ($u^2 = 0$), where $p$ is an odd prime and $m, s \in \mathbb{N}$. For $p \equiv 3, 5 \pmod 7$ with $\gcd(m, 6) = 1$, the cyclotomic polynomial $\Phi_7(x)$ is irreducible over $\mathbb{F}_{p^m}$. This yields a direct sum decomposition $C = C_1 \oplus C_2$ for any cyclic c...

On $\mathbb{P}^1$-bundles on $\mathbb{P}^3$ that are small modifications of a Fano fourfold

We find necessary conditions for the projectivization of a rank two vector bundle $\mathcal{E}$ on $\mathbb{P}^3_{\mathbb{C}}$ to be related to a smooth Fano 4-fold by a small $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial modification (SQM). Furthermore, we fully describe the birational geometry of $\mathbb{P}_{\mathbb{P}^3}(\mathcal{E})$ wh...
