Solar-driven direct propane dehydrogenation (PDH) represents a promising strategy to overcome the high-temperature demands and selectivity limitations of conventional thermocatalysis, yet the identification of effective photoactive phases remains challenging. Herein, we demonstrate that photoactivated PtO2 enables regenerable and highly selective PDH over a PtO2/Pt1-In2O3 catalyst under mild conditions. Under simulated sunlight without external heating, the catalyst achieves a propylene formation rate of 1322.35 µmol g-1 h-1 with unity selectivity, while remaining inactive under comparable thermocatalytic conditions. In situ spectroscopic analyses combined with density functional theory calculations reveal a photoactivated dual-site mechanism, in which PtO2 nanoparticles function as oxidation centers for hole-driven C─H bond activation, whereas neighboring interfacial Pt single atoms act as electron-accepting sites to promote H2 evolution, enabling efficient spatial separation and utilization of photogenerated charge carriers. Catalyst deactivation arises from partial reduction of PtO2, which can be exactly regenerated via a facile oxidative annealing process in air, affording excellent reusability. These findings identify photoactivated PtO2 as a distinct active phase for selective PDH and provide a design principle for solar-driven alkane valorization.
A ternary Ag-Pd/PMo12/g-C3N4 photocatalyst for visible-light-driven formic acid dehydrogenation was synthesized via a photodeposition strategy that eliminates the need for external chemical reductants such as NaBH4 or hydrazine. In this approach, Keggin-type PMo12 species are photoreduced by photogenerated electrons fr...

Efficient photocatalytic H2 evolution requires coordinated control of light absorption, interfacial charge transfer, and surface reduction kinetics. Here, g-C3N4/Bi4Ti3O12 (CN/BTO) heterojunctions were constructed by in-situ thermal coupling and subsequently modified through in-situ photodeposition of Pt. Among the inv...
Photocatalytic methanol dehydrogenation requires not only charge separation but, more critically, synchronized and rapid consumption of photogenerated electrons and holes-an unmet challenge in conventional Pt-based photocatalysts. Here we report a photocatalytic platform in which Pt single atoms (Pt SA) and Pt nanopart...

Precisely constructing photocatalysts with dual-atom sites to simultaneously enhance both photocatalytic activity and dual-atom stability presents a formidable challenge, as these two processes follow distinct pathways. This study synthesized a Pd-Ag heteronuclear dual-atom (DA) catalyst anchored on nitrogen-doped grap...
Although covalent organic framework (COF) has emerged as promising photocatalysts for solar-driven H₂ evolution, it remains challenging to simultaneously achieve efficient charge-carrier separation, favorable redox potentials and high photocatalytic activity. Herein, we present a rationally designed Bi2O3/TpBD-covalent...
