This paper develops likelihood-based estimation for parametric rational inattention--additive random utility models. We establish consistency and asymptotic normality of the exact maximum likelihood estimator and provide conditions under which the simulated estimator shares its asymptotic distribution. To implement estimation, we develop Newton--BA, a KKT-guided hybrid of Newton--Raphson and Blahut--Arimoto (BA). The algorithm accommodates both interior and boundary solutions and substantially improves computational efficiency relative to direct BA while preserving numerical accuracy. Monte Carlo simulations show that parameter recovery improves with sample size and that confidence-interval coverage is generally close to the nominal $95$ percent level. Finally, we compare our model with no- and perfect-information logit benchmarks in an empirically calibrated ModeCanada experiment. Our model achieves similar in-sample likelihood fit to perfect-information logit but more accurately recovers key preference parameters, choice probabilities, and responses to travel-time changes.
We study preference elicitation under the Bradley-Terry-Luce (BTL) model where the true partworth vector is unknown and has to be estimated as a parameter with elicited preference information. The set of selected pairwise queries is non-uniform, deterministic, and arbitrary over a collection of alternatives, provided t...
Econometric models offer parsimonious but inexact approximations to data-generating processes. This paper studies the generalized method of moments (GMM) when exchangeable specification errors of order $n^{-1/2}$ contaminate the moment conditions. I develop estimators for the mean and variance of these specification er...
Equivalent weights from regression models provide a bridge between design-based and model- based survey inference. We develop a frequentist survey-weighting framework for logistic regres- sion equivalent weights under categorical poststratification. Because the logistic model-based population estimator is nonlinear in...
Multinomial choice models allow flexible substitution patterns but become computationally demanding with many alternatives or observations. With a fixed per-observation simulation budget, simulated maximum likelihood introduces simulation bias, while each optimization step requires a full-sample likelihood evaluation....
Confidence interval estimation for binomial proportions remains challenging in finite samples due to the discreteness of the data, which induces oscillatory coverage behavior. Classical intervals are often conservative (e.g., Clopper–Pearson) or may exhibit undercoverage (e.g., Wald), and exact nominal coverage cannot...

We develop a stochastic nested fixed point (SNFP) estimator for random coefficients logit demand models that updates model parameters using stochastic gradients and performs demand inversion one market at a time. Relative to the conventional nested fixed point (NFP) estimator, SNFP substantially reduces memory requirem...
