Abstract

This paper investigates the aging behavior and lifetime performance of full-size stator and rotor bars subjected to realistic inverter voltage stress. A dedicated high-voltage test setup combining an AC transformer and a bipolar square-wave generator is used to simulate voltage waveforms representative of modern inverter topologies, including voltage source inverters (VSI) and modular multilevel converters (MMC). The results enable a comparative evaluation of insulation systems used in DFIM rotor bars and CFSM stator bars under different converter technologies.

Experimental Validation of a Three-Phase Voltage-Source Inverter with SPWM Modulation for Low-Voltage Microgrid-Oriented Applications

This work presents the design, implementation, and experimental validation of an open-loop three-phase inverter prototype. The experimental campaign was carried out with a regulated 48 V DC bus, while the bus-monitoring circuit was dimensioned for a wider voltage range. Control was implemented on an STM32 using digital...

Electro-Thermal, EMI and Reliability Assessment of Post-800 V Traction Inverter Topologies

The transition toward electric vehicle (EV) architectures exceeding 800 V offers key advantages, including shorter charging times, lower operating currents, and reduced system weight due to smaller conductor cross-sections, all of which enhance overall vehicle performance. However, identifying suitable traction inverte...

Performance evaluation of an improved international electro-technical commission based thermal modeling of power transformers under factory testing conditions

Power transformers play a vital role in power systems, from the generation of electrical energy through transmission and distribution to end consumers. They are often loaded near rated-load conditions during operation. This leads to increased losses and a rise in temperature in the power transformers. The thermal perfo...

Finite-Element-Based High-Frequency Modeling of Motor Stator Windings Fed by SiC Inverters for Reflected Voltage Analysis

The emerging adoption of wide-bandgap semiconductor devices in motor-drive systems poses significant challenges to the stator winding dielectric insulation of electrical motors due to their high voltage slew rate. Such ultra-fast switching characteristics generate fast-rising voltage pulses with high $dv/dt$ , which ma...

Assessment of the residual life of DC-DC converters based on transient process analysis

Step-down DC-DC converters are widely used in modern electronic devices. This article describes a developed diagnostic system and proposes a method for predicting the pre-failure state of DC-DC converters based on measuring and analyzing output voltage transients under step-by-step stress and various temperature condit...
