Panov obtained dependences of the breakdown voltages of transformer oil on the distance between the electrodes (up to a maximum distance of 50 cm) Volt-time curves of oil-filled power transformer insulation Survey of 100 years of research – Part II
The second part of the article examines the data of Soviet scientists on the dependence of the electrical strength of insulation of power transformers on time in historical development. Where possible, the scatter values of break-down voltage and/or partial discharge initiation voltage have been extracted from the publications under consideration for data collection to optimize insulation design and possible future statistical coordination of the internal insulation of transformers. The article is intended for young transformer engineers and for teaching transformers to undergraduate and postgraduate students in universities.
Introduction. Power cables with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation have significant advantages over traditional oil-filled ones, which have led to their widespread use in high-power electrical networks of all developed countries. However, such cables are increasingly forced to operate under conditions of non-s...

Power transformers play a vital role in power systems, from the generation of electrical energy through transmission and distribution to end
consumers. They are often loaded near rated-load conditions during operation. This leads to increased losses and a rise in temperature in the
power transformers. The thermal perfo...

To investigate the development characteristics of winding interturn insulation partial discharge in a full-scale converter transformer, an interturn insulation defect specimen was installed inside a ±400 kV full-scale converter transformer. A partial-discharge test was conducted under stepwise alternating-current (AC)...

When a power transformer subjected to transient over-voltages containing different harmonic components, the frequency components of over-voltages are coupled with the inherent electrical frequency of the transformer winding, which can induce high-amplitude resonant over-voltages in the winding and thus lead to transfor...

The industrial sector's need for reliable electrical energy demands a power generation system capable of maintaining voltage and reactive power stability. Synchronous generators play a crucial role in maintaining power quality by regulating excitation current, which influences output voltage and reactive power. This st...
