This narrative review critically evaluates the available experimental evidence supporting the repurposing potential of Alogliptin for HD and identifies alogliptin as a potent repurposable agent and the necessity to conduct specific experimental and clinical research to determine its effectiveness.
INTRODUCTION
HD is a hereditary neurodegenerative disease caused by the amplification of the CAG trinucleotide repeat in the HTT gene, leading to a Mutant Huntingtin (mHTT) protein that dysregulates transcription, promotes protein aggregation, induces neuroinflammation, and impairs mitochondrial function. Motor dysfunc...

A narrative review evaluates the therapeutic potential of semaglutide in PD, focusing on its molecular mechanisms and preclinical and emerging clinical evidence, and suggests that semaglutide crosses the blood-brain barrier and activates GLP-1 receptors in neuronal and glial cells, reducing microglial activation, neuro...

As the global burden of neurodegenerative disorders continues to rise with aging populations, there is growing interest in identifying widely available drugs that can be repurposed to target shared metabolic and inflammatory mechanisms underlying these conditions. Increasing evidence suggests that metabolic dysfunction...

Neurodegenerative diseases are progressive disorders characterised by the deterioration of neuronal structure and function, ultimately leading to cognitive deficits and functional impairment. Due to neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and mitochondrial dysfunction, neurones, which cannot regenerate themselves, are hig...
