For every $n\ge 2$, we prove that there exists an exponent $p_n$ such that, for every even log-concave probability measure $\mu$ on $\mathbb R^n$, all nonempty symmetric convex sets $K,L\subseteq\mathbb R^n$, and all $\lambda\in[0,1]$, $$ \mu(\lambda K+(1-\lambda)L)^{p_n} \ge \lambda\mu(K)^{p_n}+(1-\lambda)\mu(L)^{p_n}, $$ where $$ p_n\ge \frac{c}{n^2\ln n} $$ for some absolute constant $c>0$.
We prove bounds of order $n^{n/2}e^{O(n)}$ for the expected number of facets of high-dimensional random polytopes. First, let $\mu$ be a non-degenerate compactly supported even probability measure on $\R$ satisfying $\mu([x^\ast-s,x^\ast])\asymp s^\kappa$ near its right endpoint $x^\ast$. For every sufficiently small fixed $\alpha>0$, the convex hull of $N=\lfloor e^{\alpha n}\rfloor$ independent points with law $\mu^{\otimes n}$ has at least $n^{n/2}e^{-C_{\mu,\alpha}n}$ expected facets; this includes all symmetric finite-alphabet distributions. For every full-dimensional log-concave probability measure on $\R^n$, we prove that there exist $T\in[n,2n]$ and $N=\lceil e^Tn^{3/2}\rceil$ for which \[ n^{n/2}e^{-Cn} \leq \mathbb E f_{n-1}(P_N) \leq n^{n/2}e^{Cn}. \] Thus the scale $n^{n/2}$, up to exponential factors, is universal for log-concave measures in this high-dimensional exponential regime. Finally, we construct a symmetric isotropic full-support non-log-concave counterexample with only $(1+o(1))2^n$ expected facets.
For $n\ge1$, let $F(n)$ be the least $H$ such that any $H$ consecutive integers contain $n$ pairwise distinct integers $a_1, a_2, \dots, a_n$ with $k \mid a_k$ for $1\le k\le n$, and define $h_{\mathbb P}(n)$ analogously for the primes at most $n$. We prove \[ F(n)\le n^{4/3}\exp\!\left(O\!\left(\frac{\log n}{\log\log n}\right)\right), \qquad h_{\mathbb P}(n)\ll \frac{n^{4/3}}{(\log n)^{1/3}}, \] and \[ F(n) \ge h_{\mathbb P}(n)\ge n\exp\!\left( \left(\frac{\log 2}{2}-o(1)\right) \frac{\log n}{\log\log n} \right). \] The upper bounds follow from a new estimate for unions of arithmetic progressions. The lower bound adapts a quadratic-residue compression construction of Green and Ruzsa.
Let $\gamma_n$ be the standard Gaussian measure on $\mathbb{R}^n$, $n\ge2$, and let $\alpha_\gamma(n)$ be the largest number for which \[ \gamma_n(\lambda K+(1-\lambda)L)^{\alpha_\gamma(n)} \ge \lambda\gamma_n(K)^{\alpha_\gamma(n)} +(1-\lambda)\gamma_n(L)^{\alpha_\gamma(n)} \] holds for all convex bodies $K,L\subset\mathbb{R}^n$ containing the origin and all $\lambda\in[0,1]$. In this paper, we prove that \[ \alpha_\gamma(n) =1-\frac{2}{n-1} \frac{\Gamma(\frac n2)^2}{\Gamma(\frac{n-1}{2})^2}. \] The core of the proof is a raywise radial--tangential localization of the Hessian energy of a solution of a Neumann problem, which reduces source selection of the Neumann problem to a one-dimensional optimization. Monotonicity in the segment length and Laguerre spectral analysis determine the sharp one-dimensional value, whereas the planar endpoint is treated separately.
For an $n$-dimensional convex body $K$, let $\theta_L(K)$ denote its lattice covering density, and let $\Theta_L^{\mathrm{conv}}(n)$ and $\Theta_L^{\mathrm{sym}}(n)$ be the corresponding worst-case quantities over all convex bodies and over origin-symmetric convex bodies, respectively. Before this work, these quantities were known only to lie between a lower bound of order $n$ and an upper bound of order $n^2$, so even their polynomial order was undetermined. We prove that there are absolute constants $c,C>0$ such that \[ c n\log n \le \Theta_L^{\mathrm{sym}}(n) \le \Theta_L^{\mathrm{conv}}(n) \le Cn\log n\,(\log\log n)^{10/3+o(1)}. \] Thus both worst-case quantities are $n\log n\,(\log n)^{o(1)}$, and the upper and lower bounds differ by a factor at most $(\log\log n)^{10/3+o(1)}$. For the upper bound, a vertical--horizontal amplification based on weighted Boolean cubes combines covering estimates for low-codimensional sections into an exact lattice covering of an arbitrary convex body. For the lower bound, a random-slab construction and Poisson witnesses on flat tori show, with positive probability, that the resulting body admits no lattice covering of density below $c n\log n$.
Let $C_n$ be the optimal constant with the following property. For every even, continuous, strictly positive density $f$ on $R^n$ and all origin-symmetric convex bodies $K,L\subset R^n$, the inequalities $$ \int_{K\cap\xi^\perp}f \leq \int_{L\cap\xi^\perp}f \qquad\text{for all }\xi\in S^{n-1} $$ imply $\int_Kf\leq C_n\int_Lf$. In an earlier paper the authors proved that $C_n\leq\sqrt n$. In this paper, we prove the matching lower bound $C_n\geq c\sqrt n$. To simplify the exposition, we first give a complete one-scale construction, based on earlier work of Klartag and Koldobsky, which yields $C_n\geq c\sqrt{n/\log n}$. For the sharp result, we use the random-rounding construction of Klartag and Livshyts as a black box and combine it with a spherical-averaging support-separation argument.
For every $2<p<\infty$ and every integer $r\ge2$, we construct a finite set $T\subseteq S_{L^p[0,1]}$ such that $|T|\le2^{Cr^2}$, $\gamma_2(T)\le Cr$, and $\gamma_2(\conv T)\ge c r^{3/2-1/p}$. Consequently, for every fixed $p>2$, both estimates in Talagrand's Research Problem~2.11.3 fail in each of the spaces $L^p[0,1]$ and $\ell_p$. The lower bound follows from a multilevel product principle applied to a scale-separated product of Euclidean simplices. The same construction gives the sharp convexification profile of $\ell_p^r(\ell_2^{2^{128r}})$ for $2<p\le\infty$ and, by finite representability, quantitative failure in every infinite-dimensional Banach space with cotype index greater than $2$.
