2026 · Asian journal of applied science and technology · 0 citations

Abstract

Education is a very strong tool that can promote the development of humans and societies through preparing people for meaningful jobs and improving productivity in general. In order to adapt to the challenges of modern logistics and increasing demands for flexibility, education has evolved from the old formats into distance learning with ODL helping to eliminate all sorts of barriers, such as age, money, work, and disability issues. There was a 2026 UTME in Nigeria which examined around 2.2 million candidates at 966 Computer-Based Test centers. In spite of such developments, there are still certain problems with the existing educational approaches and conventional LMS systems, one of which is the lack of personalization. Thus, it is absolutely crucial to develop adaptive LMS technology that would be able to adjust learning materials and activities to the needs and preferences of particular students. The objective of this study was to evaluate the degree of user engagement and adoption of the adaptive LMS and also to identify the challenges involved in the implementation of the LMS. In this study, the researcher used the theories of self-determination and transactional distance for distant learning. From this research, it is evident that the integration of artificial intelligence in adaptive learning technologies is useful for enhancing student performance in higher education in Nigeria. The implementation framework was suggested by this study for the adoption of the adaptive LMS. Based on the findings, recommendation was proffered.
