Abstract
General Background Digital transformation constitutes a crucial agenda in modern educational management, requiring schools to adopt data-driven governance and technological innovations. Specific Background The emergence of Artificial Intelligence introduces new demands for school principals to establish secure governance, ethical guidelines, and advanced pedagogical tools at institutions like SMA N 17 Merangin. Knowledge Gap Despite technological availability, variations in teachers' digital competencies and the absence of standardized ethical guidelines for Artificial Intelligence utilization present significant administrative challenges. Aims This study analyzes the implementation of principal digital leadership in supporting educational quality during the Artificial Intelligence era at SMA N 17 Merangin. Results Utilizing an explanatory sequential mixed-methods design with 26 respondents, quantitative findings reveal a significant positive relationship between digital leadership and educational quality (r = 0.758; p < 0.001), contributing 57.45% to quality variance. Qualitative data indicate that principals actively build digital visions, foster collaboration, and apply data-based decision-making, although uneven teacher competencies and absent ethical standard operating procedures remain as obstacles. Novelty This research specifically integrates Artificial Intelligence literacy, digital ethics, and data-driven supervision within the assessment of school leadership frameworks. Implications Educational institutions must strengthen policies regarding ethical Artificial Intelligence usage, provide continuous digital training, and establish comprehensive data-driven supervision systems to sustain academic excellence.

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has reshaped education and intensified the need for effective digital leadership. This study examines the relationships among digital leadership, AI utilisation, and innovative and humanistic educational transformation, with particular attention to the moderating role of AI. The study was conducted at a private higher education institution in Bandar Lampung, Indonesia. Using a sequential explanatory mixed-methods design, quantitative data were collected from 150 students drawn from a population of 200 through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analysed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The qualitative phase involved semi-structured interviews with 10 purposively selected students from different study programs to explain the quantitative findings. The results show that digital leadership is positively related to AI utilisation (β = 0.570) and to innovative and humanistic educational transformation (β = 0.326). AI utilisation is also positively related to educational transformation (β = 0.333). In addition, the interaction between digital leadership and AI utilisation shows a small positive moderating effect (β = 0.085), suggesting that AI may modestly strengthen the contribution of digital leadership to educational transformation. Qualitative findings indicate that digital leadership supports institutional adaptation to technological change, while AI can improve learning effectiveness, administrative efficiency, and personalised learning when used ethically and purposefully. The study concludes that innovative and humanistic educational transformation requires strong digital leadership, responsible AI integration, and careful alignment between technological innovation and humanistic educational values.

The imperative for digital transformation within primary education has highlighted the strategic role of educational leadership in driving technological integration and cultivating student competencies. However, empirical understanding of how technology-focused principal management directly fosters foundational digital literacy among elementary students in resource-constrained contexts remains limited. This study examined the operationalization of technology-based principal leadership management and evaluated its direct role in strengthening student digital literacy at SDN Lalosabila. Utilizing a qualitative single-case study design, empirical data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, non-participant classroom observations, and institutional document analysis involving the school principal, instructional staff, and elementary students. Data was processed iteratively using thematic analysis coupled with method and source triangulation to ensure analytical rigor. The findings demonstrate that technology-driven principal leadership operates across five core operational dimensions: strategic planning, pedagogical oversight through e-supervision, administrative evaluation, human capital development, and culture creation. Furthermore, principal-led initiatives catalyzed a transition from passive technology consumption to active engagement, enhancing student digital literacy across technical, cognitive, and ethical domains. Nevertheless, systemic barriers, including internet bandwidth fluctuations and device shortages, continue to constrain optimal implementation. This study concludes that transformational, adaptive digital leadership is essential for bridging digital divides in primary education. Practically, the results offer actionable frameworks for educational administrators seeking to optimize digital infrastructure, design continuous teacher mentoring programs, and build resilient, ethically grounded digital learning cultures in emerging educational environments.

Teacher competency development is a crucial factor in improving educational quality; however, many Islamic educational institutions face budget constraints that limit the implementation of sustainable professional development programs. The rapid advancement of digital technology offers opportunities for educational institutions to optimize Human Resource Management (HRM) strategies through digital platforms and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as more effective and cost-efficient alternatives. This study aims to analyze digital-based HRM strategies in developing teacher competence amidst budgetary constraints at SMP Terpadu Bustanul Arifin. A qualitative research approach was employed using observations, semi-structured interviews, and documentation as data collection techniques. The data were analyzed using the interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data credibility was ensured through source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that digital-based HRM strategies enhance teachers' pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies through online training, self-directed learning, digital collaboration platforms, and the utilization of AI in instructional planning. Nevertheless, several challenges remain, including limited digital infrastructure, varying levels of teachers' digital literacy, and resistance to technological change. This study concludes that digital-based HRM strategies provide an effective and sustainable solution for improving teacher competence despite financial limitations. The findings imply that educational institutions should strengthen digital transformation policies, enhance teachers' digital capacities, and improve technological infrastructure to support the sustainable improvement of educational quality in Islamic schools.

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes increasingly fundamental to education systems globally, public senior secondary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria face the urgent need to assess their readiness for AI integration. This study examined the relationship between transformative educational leadership and AI readiness in selected public senior secondary schools in Lagos State. Specifically, the study investigated the relationships between administrative efficiency, resource management, and digital literacy, and institutional AI readiness indicators such as digital skills, staff capacity, and organisational preparedness. A quantitative research design was adopted, and data were collected from 50 principals in Education District V, Lagos State, using a structured questionnaire. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and Pearson correlation analysis. Findings revealed significant positive relationships between leadership variables and AI readiness. Administrative efficiency showed the strongest correlation with AI readiness (r = .62, p < .01), followed by resource management (r = .54, p < .01). Digital literacy also showed a significant but comparatively weaker relationship with AI readiness (r = .54, p < .01), indicating its continued importance as a developmental challenge in schools. The study concludes that transformative educational leadership is a significant predictor of AI readiness in public senior secondary schools in Lagos State, Nigeria. It recommends targeted leadership training, improved policy frameworks, and increased investment in digital infrastructure to support effective and equitable AI adoption in schools.
