Abstract

This paper examines the possibility of using a process model as the basis for enterprise diagnosis. The relevance of the study stems from the fact that a significant proportion of organizational problems arise not within individual functional domains but when different elements of business architecture start to interact. These elements include business processes, organizational structure, information systems, data, motivation systems, and the system of goals and performance indicators. The aim of the study is to substantiate the use of a process model for diagnosing the current state of an enterprise. To achieve this objective, the major management concepts employing process models were analyzed. The analysis demonstrates that a process model can be applied to address a wide range of managerial tasks. It is concluded that a process model can be used not only for describing, regulating, designing, and improving organizational activities, but also for diagnosing the current state of an enterprise. The main contribution of the study is the substantiation of an extended role of the process model, demonstrating its applicability not only as a tool for business process management but also as a basis for enterprise diagnosis.
