Abstract

This paper constructs a multi-objective optimization model to balance the number of tourists and resource conservation for sustainable tourism development. The model defines decision variables such as sales tax rate, investment in tourism infrastructure, and expenditure on environmental protection facilities, and establishes objective functions for resident satisfaction, tourism revenue coefficient, and environmental protection effects. The optimal solution is achieved when the tax rate is around 0.1. The study further demonstrates that the rational allocation of investments in tourism infrastructure and environmental protection is crucial for multi-objective optimization. The model also incorporates constraints on the number of tourists, showing that sustainable development can still be achieved by adjusting investment strategies under such constraints. Applications in different tourist destinations (such as Key West and Solvang) indicate that the model can effectively adapt to various regional goals by adjusting weights and constraints. Sensitivity analysis reveals that the expenditure on environmental protection facilities has the most significant impact on the optimization results, while changes in weights have minimal influence. This model provides a scientific basis for decision-making in sustainable tourism development.
